Bronson Awarded Organ Donation Medal of HonorDecember 29, 2006 Bronson Methodist Hospital, in collaboration with Gift of Life Michigan, has been recognized for achieving outstanding organ donation rates by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). This is the second consecutive year Bronson has been recognized for this achievement. The Medals of Honor is in recognition of HHS’s Breakthrough Collaborative goal for hospitals around the country to achieve organ donation rates of 75 percent or greater. Nationally, 371 of largest hospitals were honored at the Second National Learning Congress on Organ Donation and Transplants in New Orleans. Bronson was one of 16 hospitals in Michigan to earn this recognition. Hospitals with eight or more potential organ donors during the 26-month award period ending June 2006 were eligible for the Medals of Honor. All winning hospitals had to achieve and sustain a donation rate of 75 percent or more from among the eligible donors for at least a year.
