Services
The new cath labs offer patients high quality cardiovascular care by a highly trained team of specialists and staff. The cath labs utilize the most advanced technology for the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disorders. In the cardiac catheterization suite physicians can diagnose and treat heart and vascular conditions using catheters instead of surgery. Many different procedures can be done in the cath lab instead of an operating room. Some of those procedures include:
- cardiac catheterization
- electrophysiology testing
- percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), includes balloon angioplasty and cardiac stenting
- permanent pacemaker insertions
- implantable defibrillator insertions
- peripheral vascular stenting
- intravascular imaging
During a catheterization procedure, a thin, flexible tube, or catheter, is inserted into an artery or vein in the patient's arm or leg. The catheter can be used as a diagnostic tool to figure out what is wrong with a patient's cardiovascular system or it can be used to help in the delivery of devices to treat coronary artery disease.
