Excellence in Cardiovascular Nursing 2009

This conference will highlight assessment, intervention, and clinical application of current therapies to guide nursing care for cardiac patients across the continuum of care.  Our goal is to enhance the learning opportunities for nursing staff to incorporate the knowledge of new approaches to the treatment of heart disease into the assessment, planning and delivery of expert nursing care.

Program Overview and Objectives
At the conclusion of this symposium participants will:

  • Identify updates in open-heart surgery techniques such as OPCAB and minimally invasive valuve replacements.
  • Discuss the current therapies used in maintaining tight glycemic control for patients with acute coronary syndromes.
  • Identify the end-of-life and palliative (pain) issues for heart failure patients.
  • Discuss the current guidelines for treating heart disease in women and the special considerations for pharmacological therapies.
  • Identify the tools to connect happiness with family-centered care to stay energized in the nursing profession.
