Bronson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is a not-for-profit, 120-bed, skilled nursing center. We specialize in long- and short-term care and therapy for patients following illness, injury or hospitalization.

Located in the southeast corner of Van Buren County, Bronson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center is only 30 minutes from Kalamazoo and within easy access for all of Southwest Michigan, just four miles south of I-94 at Exit 60.

We offer our residents a wide range of services, programs and amenities tailored to meet their specific needs, all within a caring and comfortable environment.

Rehabilitation Services
We'll work with you to establish a treatment plan based on your abilities, needs and goals. Therapeutic exercises and activities take place in our clinic and throughout our facility to give you a broad experience and enhance your recovery.

Occupational Therapy addresses the abilities and skills needed for:

  • basic self-care - grooming, hygiene, bathing, dressing, eating
  • use of adaptive equipment to enhance independence
  • wheelchair positioning, management and safety
  • use of devices for vision and hearing impairments
  • home management tasks - meal preparation,
  • money management and other household chores

Physical Therapy addresses the abilities and skills needed for:

  • walking
  • balance and coordination
  • joint and muscle pain
  • strength and endurance

Speech/Language Pathology addresses the abilities and skills needed for:

  • clear speech and language expression
  • comprehension
  • swallowing

After you've had a chance to settle in, your rehabilitation team will meet with you and your family to ensure that your treatment plan is meeting your needs.

Quality
Bronson Nursing and Rehabilitation Center received a 5-star rating in Overall Quality by Centers for Medicare and Medicaide services (CMS) in 2008 and 2009. This Overall Quality rating is based on ratings for health inspections, quality measures and staffing. The center is also Medicare and Medicaid certified.

Our Team
Our healthcare team works together to ensure that each resident's physical, emotional, spiritual and intellectual needs are met.

Administrative Team:

Edward W. Lean, MD, CMD,
Medical Director

Dr. Lean has been medical director at BNRC since 1988. He is boardcertified in Family Medicine with a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Geriatric Medicine. Dr. Lean is one of three physicians in southwest Michigan with this certification and the only one in Van Buren County.


Laura Hamann, Administrator
Ms. Hamann has been administrator at BNRC since 1996. She is a certified fellow of the American College of Health Care Administrators and is a licensed nursing home administrator in the State of Michigan. Ms. Hamann is also director of extended care at Bronson LakeView Hospital and chair of the board for the Health Care Association of Michigan.
