Pharmacy Careers at Bronson

We welcome you to join the fast-paced environment of Bronson Methodist Hospital’s Pharmacy Department. The Pharmacy Department supports Bronson Methodist Hospital, a hospital with all private rooms and a design that incorporates the latest technology with a healing environment. Bronson is a Level 1 Trauma Center, a Heart Hospital and a Children’s Hospital.

The Bronson Pharmacy Department consists of inpatient and outpatient pharmacies. Pharmacists also work in the Bronson Anticoagulation Clinic and Bronson Home and Ambulatory Infusion Services. Decentralized pharmacists perform rounds with medical professionals at the patient’s bedside, providing an invaluable resource to both staff and patients. Our Outpatient Pharmacy provides individual patient counseling as well as over-the-counter product selection.

A multi-disciplinary team composed of pharmacists, registered nurses, residents, interns, unit dose technicians, IV additive technicians and a pharmacy systems computer coordinator staffs Bronson’s Pharmacy Department. This team approach enables Bronson to enhance patient care and produce positive outcomes. The team also collaborates with management to develop and implement programs to enhance pharmacy services offered at Bronson.

Bronson’s Pharmacy Department is proud to house premier pharmacy technology and equipment. These state-of-the-art resources include the McKesson Robot RX, Pyxis, C-II Safe, Horizon Meds Manager computer system, and our Antibiotic Dosing Service. The Outpatient Pharmacy uses the SRS computer system and ScriptPro 200. The department uses staffing modules that recognize and support excellence and foster collaborative practice., Employees are involved in the decision-making and planning that affects their work life.

As an accredited teaching hospital, Bronson embraces continuing education and encourages attendance at national conferences. Numerous educational opportunities are provided including cross-training to other modalities and internships. National conferences are supported for our unit dose and IV additive technicians and we provide training for the National Certification Exam.

The Bronson Pharmacy is a key teaching site for the Ferris State University School of Pharmacy. There are several full-time faculty members stationed at Bronson and many of the staff pharmacists are adjunct clinical professors who participate in the clinical education of the next generation of pharmacists. The Bronson pharmacies’ commitment to education also includes three ASHP Pharmacy Practice Residency positions.

Bronson supports a career pathway that provides opportunities for knowledge growth and skill base advancement for all positions from entry level to professional. This pathway includes:

  • Individualized orientation based on personal experience
  • Mentorship in which experienced staff members assist new staff members on an ongoing basis in the areas of clinical development and assimilation into a new work environment
