Bronson Pediatric Critical Care If your child is in the hospital, you're here all day, every day. So is his doctor. Our pediatric critical care physicians are experts in hospital care for children. They're here 24 hours a day, seven days a week to make sure someone is always on hand to answer your questions. Today, many primary care doctors see patients only at their offices-not at the hospital. If your child is an inpatient at The Children's Hospital at Bronson, you may be referred to a doctor specializing in hospital medicine for children, called a pediatric critical care physician. These doctors are experienced, board certified pediatricians who provide both intensive and general inpatient care. They meet daily as a team to review patient care and consult with other specialists, if needed. They also communicate regularly with your child's primary care doctor. If your child needs care in our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), he or she will be cared for by our specially trained pediatric intensivists. Our doctors can tailor this process to a child's age and interests. Styles of guided imagery range from blowing bubbles to going on an imaginary adventure. Guided imagery gives children a sense of control over their minds and bodies without help from sedation medication. Most children age four and older are candidates. The doctor will talk with your child and then discuss possibilities with you so the best decision can be made for your child.
